MH diary: 10 Oct 1931, "Started "Wedding cake" after lunch"; 14 Oct, "dull day so kept indoors and finished "wedding cake" from bedroom downstairs ".
Dunedin paper 20 Apr 1939: "a striking picture of a group of habitations at Amalfi, in what might be described as "wedding cake formation", a church building with spire forming the apex."
Dunedin paper 21 Apr 1939: "... and an impressively balanced picture of a "wedding-cake" formation of buildings contain much quiet colour and a mood of untroubled existence". |
